How will you encourage your congregation, group, or class to pray for our nation on Independence Day this year? Here’s a prayer you can copy and insert in this week’s bulletin or in your July newsletter. (If you live outside the United States, feel free to copy it for use on a patriotic holiday in your nation!)
Lord of all nations, thank you for the blessings of order and freedom you have granted in our country. Hear us now as we pray for those in positions of authority over us:
- We pray for our president, governors, and mayors . . .
- We pray for all who write our laws in the nation, state, and local government . . .
- We pray for all judges . . .
- Guide and protect our military and all first-responders . . .
- Give wisdom to all educators . . .
- Increase the skills and compassion of all health care workers . . .
- Grant insight and integrity to all in business and industry . . .
Let your peace rule in every home and your will be done in every heart.
We pray in Jesus’ name. Amen.
